The NIH LRP recognizes highly qualified professionals and promising researchers who
contribute to NIH-funded projects. Elissa’s NIH LRP projects will prepare her for a future career
in academic research by helping her to build school and community partnerships, gain training
in implementation science, and develop culturally tailored school-based and digital interventions
for Black and Latinx youth, their families, and school professionals.
Dr. Monteiro expressed her gratitude for all mentors, team members, and study participants
involved in the projects whom she has already learned so much from. “I am honored to receive
this award and excited to work on the community-engaged projects involved in my training plan!
The support provided by the LRP facilitates the continuation of my development as a researcher
focused on reducing mental health disparities among youth with attention and behavior
problems
