Research Interests: Dr. Feion Villodas' research focuses on mental and behavior health disparities among African-Americans and Latinos. She is particularly interested in acculturation, cultural competence, community-based participatory research approaches and the adaptation and implementation of effective treatments for culturally diverse populations.
Dr. Villodas currently serves as the Principal Investigator (PI) and Director of and After-school Treatment Program (ATP). The purpose of this project is to evaluate the effectiveness of a behavioral intervention program for Latino elementary school children who have been diagnosed with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and/or disruptive behavior problems in an afterschool setting.
Dr. Villodas also has extensive training in multiple evidence-based treatment modalities including Motivational Interviewing (MI), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Seeking Safety.
