Alexys is a first-year student in the M.A. Psychology Program at San Diego State University. She earned her B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Writing Studies from the University of California, Merced. As an undergraduate, Alexys worked in a developmental research lab examining cultural and contextual influences on minoritized youth, with a particular focus on Latinx populations and their outcomes. She also led her own research project investigating the role of sexual values and familismo in shaping mental health outcomes among Latina adolescents. In her free time, Alexys enjoys traveling, going to the beach, and trying new foods.
