Member of the Healthy Child and Family Development Lab Present at the Society for Research on Adolescence, SRA, here in San Diego

Nick’s presentation focused on a study that he and other HCFD lab members are in the process of developing into a manuscript. Findings from the study, which centers on ethnic-racial affirmation (ERA) as a source of resilience, indicate that a positive sense of affirmation toward one’s racial-ethnic background may confer resilience against the effects of harsh parenting, particularly for Black youth.

Reese presented a poster blitz presentation at SRA. She presented an excerpt of her masters thesis, Delinquency Pathways from Polyvictimization to Adult Risky Sexual Behavior: The Roles of Timing and Biological Sex. Findings of the study suggest that youth exposure to polyvictimization, especially during adolescence, may cause impaired behavioral inhibition and delinquency, contributing to risky sexual behaviors in early adulthood.
