Rub\u00ed is a second-year student in the M.A. Psychology Program at San Diego State University. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Purdue University. Rub\u00ed also holds a master\u2019s in international law from ITESM in Mexico; and a PhD in Social Sciences from the University of Southampton (UK).\u00a0\u00a0During the last 15 years, she has worked in sustainable development and environmental policy in the finance and infrastructure sectors, in Mexico and England; where she has designed and implemented circular economy policies and environmental and social risk management systems. Upon moving to Baja California, Rub\u00ed decided to return to her roots in psychology, after witnessing two phenomena in the region: a rise in mental health challenges among youth and a rise in the number of migrants in-transit stranded at the border. Rub\u00ed is pursuing a career in clinical psychology to help design and implement large-scale, science-based psychosocial interventions for these groups in the border region of the Californias. She has more than 5 years of experience working as a mentor to youth from different backgrounds and as researcher studying economic development and policy design. In her free time, Rub\u00ed enjoys walks on the beach at sunset, wine tasting and weightlifting \u2013 not together.<\/p>\n
