Exploring Student Support Team Functioning in Schools<\/strong><\/summary>

Student support teams are a key component to getting students connected to appropriate interventions within the school mental health system. This one-year pilot project aims to use mixed methods to explore student support team functioning and assess SST members\u2019 perspectives about their team and the SST process. A key deliverable from this project will be a novel card sorting task to assess shared understanding amongst the team.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

The Collaborative Life Skills Program\u2019s (CLS) effectiveness is well established. However, barriers to its implementation in schools with limited resources that serve a high proportion of students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds persist. This four-year project aims to enhance the feasibility and usability of CLS in these school contexts by leveraging digital health technology. In collaboration with the Vista and Oakland Unified School Districts, we will develop a mobile health application to support CLS implementation.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

Addressing Racial Ethnic Disparities in Access to ADHD Services<\/strong><\/summary>

Children from lower socio-economic status and ethnic\/racial minority backgrounds, especially Black and Latin\u00e9 students, are less likely to be identified and receive services for attention and behavior challenges related to ADHD. Barriers to receiving services include caregiver logistical constraints (e.g., time, transportation, childcare, work schedules) and perceptions (e.g., cultural mistrust, stigma, perceived efficacy), and insufficient school resources (e.g., staff, time, consultation support). The HCFD team will work closely with school districts in San Diego County to adapt the Collaborative Life Skills Program (CLS) content and structure, integrating mHealth technology, to reduce barriers to accessing ADHD-related services in schools for children from lower-SES and ERM backgrounds.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

Adult Outcomes in the Longitudinal Studies of Child Abuse and Neglect \u2013 San Diego<\/strong><\/summary>

LONGSCAN is a five-site consortium of studies that have followed prospective cohorts who were identified as being at risk for abuse and\/or neglect during early childhood for more than 30 years. At the San Diego site, we have maintained contact with many of the participants who have been participating since they were four years old and who are now approximately 30 years old.\u00a0 We are collecting data about their relationships with their children and parenting behaviors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>
